Denver records multiple interceptions on Case Keenum

Thursday night may not be a good one for Cleveland’s offense. They are already dealing with injuries across the offensive line and will be without their top two running backs. And now, Baker Mayfield is officially out for Thursday night, with Case Keenum starting in his place.

Mayfield suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder back in Week 2 against the Houston Texans. The fourth-year quarterback appeared to have worsened that injury in Week 6 against the Cardinals, causing him to briefly leave, return, and sit out once the game was out of reach. Even though Mayfield revealed that his labrum is actually completely torn, he planned on playing Thursday. Yet, the team announced on Wednesday that Keenum will get the start.

Keenum is not going to get much protection at the line of scrimmage. Given the Broncos have Von Miller, who can disrupt things, Keenum could very well be pressured to make some risky throws. That can work into Denver’s favor.

Denver’s pass defense is stingy (229.2 average yards allowed per game, 11th fewest in NFL), so they can very well pick off at least two of Keenum’s passes.
