Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield doesn’t just have a torn labrum. He also fractured a bone that needs to heal up before he can play.

The situation for Baker Mayfield and the Browns went from bad to worse this week.

Mayfield has a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, which was aggravated in Cleveland’s loss to the Cardinals.

It’s not as simple as that though.

Baker Mayfield injury update: Browns QB has fractured shoulder too

Mayfield told Jay Glazer on Friday he also broke a bone in his shoulder.

Glazer added that the bone was fractured when his shoulder dislocated and he fumbled in the Arizona game.

“I need that fracture to heal for me to get back out there,” Mayfield told Glazer.

Initially, it was reported that Mayfield would need a week or so to rest up with the plan to undergo surgery to repair the surgery in the offseason. It’s not clear if the fracture changes those plans.

How long is Baker Mayfield’s recovery time for a fractured humerus bone?

It all depends on what severity of fracture Mayfield has. It could take 3-4 weeks to heal. It could take 3-4 months.

At the very least, Mayfield is missing Thursday night’s contest against the Broncos with Case Keenum set to start in his place. The Browns play the Steelers at home in 10 days. It now looks increasingly doubtful the quarterback will be able to take the field then, but you never know.
