Arch Manning committing to Clemson hinges on Dabo Swinney firing one of his coaches

As Arch Manning’s high-profile recruitment towards 2023 intensifies, the Clemson football program has no choice but to fire offensive coordinator Tony Elliott if the Tigers want any hope of getting the five-star quarterback.

If the Clemson football program wants to land Arch Manning, they have to let go of Tony Elliott.

Though he has not tipped his hand just yet, Clemson is one of five programs Manning is seriously considering playing his college football at. The four other teams very much in the mix for his five-star commitment in 2023 are Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas. While the Longhorns were seen as a slight favorite initially, things have not gone according to plan under Steve Sarkisian.

If Clemson does not want to get left in the dust, they need to go get a better offensive coordinator.

This is somewhat in the same vein as what is going on in Baton Rouge. Manning is a New Orleans native and plays for Isidore Newman in Louisiana’s biggest metropolis, but he was not committing to LSU if Ed Orgeron was still the head coach. LSU and Orgeron have agreed to part ways at the end of the season. Who they end up hiring as his successor could maybe get them back in the mix.

While playing for the same program that gave the NFL Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence would be cool, D.J. Uiagalelei has struggled this year and just got benched vs. Pitt. Manning’s career is too precious to leave it to chance with questionable offensive play-calling. It is why places like Alabama, Georgia and the Manning homestead of Ole Miss have a great shot now.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney must fire Elliott or he will miss out on landing Arch Manning.
