Graham Mertz is more of a liability than anything for the Wisconsin Badgers

My, oh my, how the perceived mighty have fallen. At the start of the year, Graham Mertz was tabbed as the best thing to happen to the Wisconsin Badgers’ quarterback room since that one year of Russell Wilson. Now, his team improved to 4-3 with a road win at Purdue in a game where he only threw the ball five times. Mertz is totally a liability at this time for head coach Paul Chryst.

Unlike Ty Thompson at Oregon, Chase Wolf is not a true freshman. He has been around the block a few times. The former Cincinnati Bearcat came to Madison with the hopes of being able to play one day. Since all Mertz tends to do is blow one opportunity after another, we could see Wolf finally get some run before another lost season of Wisconsin football comes to an end too soon.

Emory Jones is solid for the Florida Gators, but he will not be beating Georgia

The Florida Gators may have been on a bye this week, but they are facing their biggest SEC rival next Saturday in Jacksonville. Though anything and everything can happen in this neutral-site affair, Florida head coach Dan Mullen seems like he will be going with Emory Jones once again under center instead of the much more higher-ceilinged quarterback in Anthony Richardson.

Jones may be a fine quarterback in his own right, but he is not going to be the one who helps Florida stun No. 1 Georgia. It is already a lost season for Florida with three conference defeats well before Halloween. Committing to Jones to play it safe is one thing, but Richardson is the ultimate wild card, the one Mullen cannot be afraid to play if he wants to beat college football’s best team.
