College GameDay viewers are showing their concern for Lee Corso after his appearance during the Week 8 show at UCLA and think it may be time for him to retire.

Lee Corso has been a mainstay on College GameDay since the show’s inception. The former head coach has been a source of humor with his headgear picks and catchphrases, like “not so fast my friend!” among many other great quotes.

However, there are some fans of his and of the show who are concerned Corso may have lost his fastball and may need to see his role reduced or retire outright.

Corso, 86, has been the subject of some ridicule and bullying on social media which prompted Kirk Herbstreit to issue a message to take it easy on him. And prior to Saturday’s show, Herbstreit shared an inspirational video of Corso reminding everyone to be thankful for what they have rather than being bitter for what they don’t

It’s an important message for everyone. But there are some who didn’t get the message and chose to point out Corso’s age and performances on the show as a reason to get him off the show.

A lot of these tweets are just disrespectful toward Corso rather than showing genuine concern for an 86-year-old man who is aging on national television. It can be hard to age gracefully and even harder when you’re hosting a live television show for three hours. Give Corso some leeway and the grace he has earned and is deserving of for all he’s done for the game and sport.

Lee Corso headgear pick for UCLA vs. Oregon

Corso closed today’s show by making his weekly headgear pick. This week, he is going with the home team to get the win, and not upsetting guest picker, Bill Walton in the process. Corso donned the Bruin headgear and is going with UCLA to beat Oregon.
