3 Dodgers players who won’t be back in 2022
By Scott Rogust
Albert Pujols
Earlier this season, the Los Angeles Angels shockingly waived veteran first baseman Albert Pujols, who was in the final year of his contract. After a brief stay on the sidelines, the Dodgers gave the veteran first baseman a shot at reaching the World Series for potentially the final time.
Through 85 regular-season games with the Dodgers, Pujols slashed .254/.299/.460 while recording 12 home runs, 38 RBI, 20 runs scored and 48 hits. Entering NLCS Game 6, Pujols went 5-for-15 at the plate, where he scored two runs, walked once and struck out three times.
It is unknown what will happen with Pujols this offseason. Is retirement on the table? A return to the St. Louis Cardinals for one final season?
It is unknown, which is why Pujols makes the list for Dodgers players who probably won’t return in 2022 as, if he’s playing baseball at all next season, it likely won’t be in Los Angeles.
