When is the last time Indiana beat Ohio State football?
By Ethan Lee
The Indiana Hoosiers haven’t had much success against the Ohio State Buckeyes in recent seasons. Or really ever. Indiana doesn’t win much in this series.
The Indiana Hoosiers will be hoping for a chance to upset a highly ranked foe when they host the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday.
While the Hoosiers have historically struggled against the Buckeyes, Indiana’s woes against Ohio State have been magnified in recent decades. The Hoosiers have been competitive in a few contests in recent years, providing an occasional scare to Ohio State here and there, but it’s been quite some time since the Buckeyes lost to Indiana.
In 2020, the Hoosiers came incredibly close and gave the Buckeyes a real challenge, but ultimately fell short in a high-scoring, 42-35 affair.
And that’s generally as close as Indiana comes to beating Ohio State.
Ohio State football: When did the Buckeyes last lose to the Indiana Hoosiers?
With this being one of the most lopsided series in all of college football, it has been over three decades since Indiana has managed to take down Ohio State. The last time the Hoosiers beat the Buckeyes came all the way back in 1988 when Indiana won, 41-7, at home.
Interestingly enough, the year prior, Indiana beat Ohio State on the road in a similar blowout, winning 31-10.
The Hoosiers are massive underdogs in this series and they have to be hoping for a miracle when it faces the Buckeyes. That’s not just true this year, that’s basically true every season these teams meet.
Indiana has only managed to win against the Buckeyes twice dating back to 1952, those aforementioned wins in the 1980s. This series is just about as lopsided as they come.
