Mike Leach on his favorite Halloween candy is an absolute treat

Mike Leach took the time to explain the best kinds of Halloween candy after Mississippi State throttled Vanderbilt.
Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach Mike Leach is one of the most eccentric figures college football has ever seen and he’s seemingly willing to discuss non-college football related topics at just about any moment.
Following Mississippi State’s dominant 45-6 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores, Leach was asked about his Halloween candy preferences. While that may not be the typical thing to discuss after such a win, Leach sure didn’t seem to mind.

SEC Network’s Alyssa Lang opened up the conversation by noting that Leach hates candy corn, which he admitted to. That then launched into a beautiful lecture on the wonders of Halloween candy and candy in general.
So, to recap, Mike Leach hates candy corn but loves gummy bears, “the Haribo ones”, though we don’t know if those are the sour or regular ones, and has since he was a kid. We also all need to go to the dollar store to get “outstanding” “Sprees in a box” and, to follow Leach’s lead, stock up on our favorite treats.
Most importantly, though, never forget that Europe has better candy than the U.S. because it’s “gummy everything” there.
All of this was happening as Mississippi State was celebrating a win in Leach’s second season as the Bulldogs head coach. He’s generally had some mixed results here and there, but Mississippi State is starting to show some more promise this season.
The Bulldogs are now 4-3 on the year with one of those wins coming on the road against Texas A&M. Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers has already completed 250-of-339 pass attempts for 2,162 yards and 14 touchdowns against just five interceptions.
And of course, because the Bulldogs are getting some wins, fans are able to enjoy more soundbites like this.
