Maurice Clarett shouted out Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson during Saturday’s game against Indiana.
Maurice Clarett has long held the single-season total touchdown record by a freshman at Ohio State with 18. The record has yet to be broken, but that may be nearing its end. That was until first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson scored three touchdowns in the first half against the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday, bringing his season-total to 14.
During the game, Clarett tweeted out that Henderson is going to break his record and that he wishes “much success to the youngster.”

TreVeyon Henderson close to breaking Maurice Clarett’s freshman record at Ohio State
In the first half against the Hoosiers, Henderson ran for 81 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns, while catching one pass for 14 yards and a touchdown.
Clarett played at Ohio State for just one season as a freshman back in 2002, where he ran for 1,237 yards and 16 touchdowns while catching 12 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Clarett would not play for the program after 2002, as he was dismissed from the program following a season-long suspension in 2003.
With there still being a half of football left to play and five games remaining on the schedule, it looks as though it will be a matter of if, not when, Henderson officially passes Clarett in total touchdowns as a freshman. Clarett knows it’s coming, hence why he sent his well wishes to Henderson.
