3 Chiefs who are on notice after embarrassing loss to Titans
The Chiefs were throttled by the Titans in Week 7 and these Kansas City players are definitely on notice as key contributors to the team’s issues.
It’s hard to imagine things getting much worse for the Kansas City Chiefs. With fans already skeptical of how the team had looked through six games, they went on the road to Tennessee and got trashed by the Titans, 27-3.
Not only does that take the defending AFC champs to 3-4 on the season and in serious danger of missing the playoffs but Patrick Mahomes also exited the game with an injury and, though reports are that he’s fine, he didn’t return.
Things are bad on multiple levels and in numerous areas for the Chiefs right now. But if we’re going to point fingers, then these three players should definitely be on notice right now. This list doesn’t include Mahomes himself but his erratic and clearly pressured play is another problem. However, these other three players are more of a long-term issue for Kansas City.
3. Mike Remmers, OT
One of the only holdovers from the Chiefs offensive line that got the work put on them by the Bucs in the Super Bowl last year is Mike Remmers at right tackle, who made the start today. And the result for Remmers didn’t change all that much on Sunday against the Titans.
Not only was Remmers called for a couple of key penalties in the game (as were several members of the offensive line) but he was allowing pressure to get to Mahomes routinely and far too quickly for the Kansas City offense to ever get into a rhythm. He was a bonafide problem that heavily contributed in holding back the offense.
Now, it should be said that Orlando Brown Jr. on the opposite side has also been an issue. His ability to drop back quickly in pass protection was something he wasn’t asked to do all that often in Baltimore and we see why in this offense. But he’s still been consistently better than Remmers, even if that’s a low bar.
