Vic Fangio could create one heck of a Denver Broncos spite defense in KC

I mean, who doesn’t love a good spite defense? That is exactly what the Chiefs would be hoping for if they can convince Vic Fangio to switch AFC West allegiances at the end of the season. Of course, this is contingent on the Denver Broncos firing their defensive-minded head coach because they once again have shown no inkling to draft or develop a quarterbacking prospect.

Unless the 60-something Fangio wants to take a break for a year, or just retire all together, he will be out of job for precisely 48 hours. He was the best defensive coordinator in the NFL from his time with the Chicago Bears. The Hunt Family will have to pay him out the wazoo to get him to come to Kansas City, but it is not like Fangio will have strong ties to the Broncos if he gets axed.

Fangio’s defenses specialize in generating pressure. The Chiefs may need a draft or two to get him enough pieces to really have this defense humming. However, there are few organizations as stable as the Chiefs are under Reid. It is why the Chiefs stand a good chance to land Fangio if he briefly goes on the market. He can rebuild the Chiefs defense and win a Super Bowl before retiring.

The Chiefs can’t be afraid about “stealing” an available former head coach from within the division.
