This season, the longstanding Jets–Patriots rivalry will be headlined by its two rookie quarterbacks: Zach Wilson and Mac Jones.

According to Nicole Yang from Boston Globe, “Pro Football Focus ranks Jones as the top rookie quarterback, with a grade (79.7) more than 20 points higher than Zach Wilson (59.4), Trey Lance (59.0), Trevor Lawrence (56.8), Davis Mills (56.3), and Justin Fields (56.0).”
Although the record doesn’t show it, the Patriots came toe-to-toe to winning at least three of those four losses. The Patriots lost to Miami by a point, Tampa Bay by two points, and they lost to the Cowboys by an overtime touchdown.
One of their two wins this year was against the Jets in Week 2, when the New England team erupted after their Week 1 loss with a 25-6 victory.
Still, the rookie disadvantage takes precedent as the Patriots are only expected to win by 6.5 points.
The second installment of the deep-seated divisional rivalry, the Patriots are expected to snatch another W from the Jets — or, as Tom Brady says, maybe the Patriots will just take the color green.
