5. Move on from Brett Veach

This is the first step in the offseason, but it is the most important.

Yes, Chiefs fans should remember that supposedly Veach was the one who pounded the table for drafting Patrick Mahomes. Yes, Chiefs fans should recognize how Veach’s team handled the cap situation in some tight spots. Yes, Chiefs fans can thank Veach for being involved in the Super Bowl campaign.

However, it is time for Chiefs fans to have a conversation about weighing Veach’s faults evenly against his successes. Frank Clark’s contract remains inexcusable. The Orlando Brown Jr. trade is starting to become more and more questionable. His draft performances have not been great.

Veach is not a good general manager but has been protected by the best quarterback to play the game and one of the best coaches to call it. The Chiefs need someone who is capable of making the drastic changes that they need this offseason, and Veach is not that guy.
