2021 NFL power rankings, Week 8: Titans impress, Ravens stunned
The defending NFC West champions have already lost as many regular-season contests as they did in 2020. And entering Week 7, no team in the NFL had allowed more total yards per game and only the Chargers and Texans were giving up more rushing yards per contest. Russell Wilson missed the first game of his career last week. And a year after finishing 7-1 at home in the regular season, the ‘Hawks have lost both of their home games to date.
Last season was very disappointing for the Vikings. And it’s been a bit of a tough year for Mike Zimmer’s club to date. But thanks to wins in their last two games, both on the final play of the contest, the Purple Gang is back at the .500 mark. Quarterback Kirk Cousins has been sharp for the most part and Minnesota’s running game has been solid. The defense has slowly made some strides but there’s still a lot of work to be done on this side of the ball.
It was the first rematch of the season as the Patriots looked to extend their winning streak vs. the Jets to 12 straight. Damien Harris ran for 106 yards and two scores as New England ran for 148 yards. Rookie Mac Jones threw for 307 yards and a pair of scores and Bill Belichick’s offense rolled up 551 total yards. It was also the first home victory in five tries for the Pats this season, who had scored only 125 points in their first six games this year.
