LeBron James takes on coaching duties while he’s hurt (Video)
LeBron James was out on Tuesday for the Lakers with a mild ankle injury but he didn’t waste time sliding into a coach’s role against the Spurs.
After he got roasted for his takes on the ending of Squid Game, the unfortunate news for the Los Angeles Lakers dropped that LeBron James would miss Tuesday night’s game against the Spurs.
Nursing a mild right ankle injury, the future Hall of Famer and the organization elected to let the minor injury rest as opposed to pushing it, especially early in the season.
But the thing about LeBron James is that he’s not just going to sit on the sidelines in street clothes. Instead, he came out of his seat and next to the assistant coaches to put his own coaching hat on while talking to Malik Monk and the Lakers about what they needed to come up with next:

LeBron James being hurt doesn’t mean he can’t still help the Lakers.
It’s undeniably funny to see James get up from the opposite side of the bench to talk it over with Monk about the next Lakers play and what the team needs to be doing. Even when he’s out, he can’t stay out completely.
Having said that, it’s hard not to admire LeBron and think that he can also still provide some help for the Lakers.
While LA is a veteran-heavy team at this point, no one on the roster has the basketball IQ or the vast experience that James does. So it’s invaluable to have him on the sidelines for the Lakers, even if he’s wearing a sweater instead of a uniform.
Next time, though, if you’re going to coach, LeBron, go all the way and give us either a suit or a team-issued pullover before you go to the clipboard.
