Baker Mayfield is gearing up to start for the Cleveland Browns vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers.

After getting hurt in the Arizona Cardinals game two weeks ago, it seems as though Baker Mayfield will be doing everything in his power to get the start for the Cleveland Browns vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday afternoon.

According to ESPN’s Jake Trotter, Mayfield is getting all the starter’s reps in practice on Wednesday, while last week’s starter Case Keenum is getting the backup reps. Keenum led the Browns to a narrow 17-14 victory over his former team in the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football last week. Though Mayfield seems to be well-rested, rushing him back is a big mistake.

The loser of the Steelers at Browns game could be in rough shape in the AFC North standings.

Baker Mayfield injury update: Browns QB takes all first-team reps in practice

At the start of the year, the Browns had a team on paper potentially good enough to win the AFC. While this team still has the talent to make the playoffs again and maybe even win the division if they catch fire in the second half, they are not accomplishing any of that if Mayfield is not healthy down the stretch. Keenum is a top-five backup in the league, a resource worth using right now.

Cleveland should be thankful the Steelers are not the toast of the AFC North division right now.
