Braves: 3 pitchers who can start World Series game voided by Charlie Morton
By John Buhler
Tucker Davidson being called up means he will be forced into action very soon
Throughout the season, Tucker Davidson was one of two promising left-handed pitching prospects who had a few cups of coffee with the big-league club. While Kyle Muller got more run than him during the dog days of summer, it is Davidson who got the call up to replace Morton the rest of the way. Though he only has five career big-league starts, he did look good this season.
Davidson had a 3.60 ERA in 20 innings pitched over four regular-season starts this year. While he is effectively wild to some degree, Davidson has shown more signs of promise in his starts for the Braves than someone like Wright. Again, Davidson will not be tasked to throw more than four or five innings if he does get the start in Game 4. Anything he gives this roster would be a big boost.
One added advantage to going with Davidson in Game 4 is that he will be fully-rested. Though Morton is more than capable of going on short rest, it would have only been four days between starts if he was healthy enough to go on Saturday. Ultimately, Davidson will likely get a start in the World Series, but it has the chance to be Game 5 instead of Game 4 depending on the situation.
Adding Davidson to the roster helps, but there is one guy who should start Game 4 over him.
