The Atlanta Braves got immediate pop from Jorge Soler in Game 1 of the World Series but they’ve moved him from the leadoff spot in the Game 2 lineup.
Jorge Soler gave the Atlanta Braves an immediate boost in Game 1 of the World Series as the big-swinging outfielder put one well over the left field fence in the first at-bat of the game. That set the tone for a dominant win for the Braves, coming out ahead 6-2.
Now as they prepare for Game 2 at Minute Maid Park, Atlanta is going to be hoping that more fireworks from Soler are there. But if they happen, it’ll be from a different spot in the order.
The Braves released their Game 2 lineup and Soler has been moved down from the leadoff spot to the No. 5 spot in the order for the second outing of the World Series.
Braves lineup for Game 2 of the World Series
Soler moves to the No. 5 spot while postseason hero and NLCS MVP Eddie Rosario will take over the leadoff duties after going 2-for-5 in the 5-hole in Game 1.
Having said that, this likely a pitching matchup thing for manager Brian Snitker, so it makes sense.
Soler was in the leadoff spot for Game 1 as the right-handed hitter was up against Astros southpaw Framber Valdez on the bump. In Game 2, righty Jose Urquidy will be starting for Houston, so it makes sense to have the left-handed (and white-hot) Rosario leading off.
Outside of that switch, though, the other change from Game 1 is moving another lefty, Joc Pederson, up in the order from No. 8 to No. 6 with Adam Duvall switching with him.
Given how well the bats showed up in Game 1 of the World Series — even with the bold call to have Soler lead off — we should probably trust Snitker with the Game 2 lineup.
