The upsets have been abundant to start the college football season, and there are some serious opportunities for teams in Week 8 to surprise the world.

Penn State went into its game with Illinois as a major favorite. They were getting 24 points on the spread at home against a team still trying to find its way. Nine overtimes later, and the then-seventh ranked Nittany Lions were staring their second loss of the season in the face because of its terrible effort offensively.

Week 9 has a few intriguing lines as well, but maybe not too many that call for a 24-point upset. There are teams on serious upset alert. They might be teams getting too many points as the road team, or other teams that are still living off their name and talent of previous seasons.

College football upset pick Week 9, No. 5: Baylor Bears

Rank: 16 | Opponent: vs. Texas | Time: Saturday, Oct. 30, 12 p.m. ET

The Texas Longhorns are coming off two heartbreaking losses. They blew a massive lead to the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman, then they watched as Oklahoma State beat them at home. A season with a lot of promise is quickly circling the drain. Lucky for Steve Sarkesian, the Longhorns had their bye week last week. They had a chance to regroup, and now they face the surprising Baylor Bears.

The Bears are 6-1 and just came off a win against BYU. Their only loss came in a battle of undefeated teams against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Since then, they’ve beaten BYU and West Virginia in a pretty considerable fashion.

However, Baylor wins on getting early leads and controlling the offense with the run game. Texas just has better weapons to beat them in that type of game. Bijan Robinson is one of the best players in college football. He will run all over this team, and Texas will put all its effort into stopping running back Abram Smith.
