Wide Receivers

Ja’Marr Chase, Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets-$8,200

Chase has been an absolute stud so far in his rookie season–that’s the only way to put it. His rapport with Joe Burrow from 2019 at LSU has picked right back up, and he has 35 targets over the last four games (at least nine three times) and over 150 yards with a score in two of the last three.

In Week 8 the Bengals will take on the New York Jets, who are only a good defense against wide receivers due to a lack of volume against them. Talent-wise, their defense is not good.

Chase has a potentially scary floor this week, based on the matchup at first glance and the real possibility the Bengals are up big on Sunday and not throwing as much. But he’s as bankable as any wide receiver in fantasy football right now, and worth the cost on FanDuel this week.

Cole Beasley, Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins-$6,100

A Week 7 bye may have knocked Beasley off the fantasy radar. But he scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 6, on seven catches (on nine targets) for 88 yards against the Tennessee Titans. In two of four games before the bye, he posted over 20 PPR points.

The absence of tight end Dawson Knox (hand) opens up opportunities in the middle of the field for Beasley against the Miami Dolphins in Week 8. The Dolphins are allowing the third-most FanDuel points per game to wide receivers (35.7), and Beasley would avoid one of Miami’s top two corners operating out of the slot.

Laviska Shenault, Jacksonville Jaguars at Seattle Seahawks-$5,800

In three games with D.J. Chark (ankle) hurt this season, Shenault has scored at least 11 PPR points in two of them. Prior to Jacksonville’s bye, Shenault had six receptions 54 yards on 10 targets in Week 6 against the Dolphins. Chark (ankle) has now been declared out for the season.

The Seattle Seahawks’ standing in the top half of the league against wide receivers is tenuous and misleading. Their secondary is not good, and if weather and the Saints’ wide receivers had cooperated in Week 7 they would be worse against wide receivers.

Apart from having a runway to 8-10 targets in a nice matchup, Shenault may get a stray carry or two on Sunday. At less than $6,000, he’s a value play as my third FanDuel receiver for Week 8.
