Ring of Honor terminates all remaining contracts, looks to restructure
By Byron Smith
All Ring of Honor wrestlers have had their contracts terminated.
First announced by Dave Meltzer on Twitter, then corroborated by Sean Ross Sapp and Bryan Alvarez, Ring of Honor has officially ended all of their contractual agreements. This information came out immediately after Ring of Honor released a public statement regarding the state of their company, announcing they will be taking an extended break to focus on the internal restructuring of the company.
In their statement, ROH highlights how their struggles adjusting for and then planning for the pandemic have exhausted many of their resources and stifled the momentum they had built up in the past decade and a half. The statement reflects on how important it was for the company to keep their wrestlers contracted during that hard time, despite being unable to produce live shows.
However, without any remaining resources, Ring of Honor is unable to fulfill its end of the contractual agreement.
Ring of Honor was home to many great wrestlers
Ring of Honor has been a beacon of pro-wrestling in North America, being the birthing place of some of the most important wrestling figures of the 2010s and today. Bryan Danielson (Daniel Bryan), CM Punk, Tyler Black (Seth Rollins), Adam Cole, Samoa Joe, and many more made a name for themselves in ROH.
On its current roster, there are several wrestlers who will likely follow in the footsteps of those before them. Bandido, Dalton Castle, Danhausen, Rush, Moses, are just a few that pop out as immediate stars, likely already fielding calls from wrestling companies around the world.
Meanwhile, the legends on Ring of Honor’s roster, The Briscoes, Jay Lethal, Joe Hendry, Mike and Maria Bennett, and Matt Taven, all of whom have already made their mark on wrestling history, will also be brought into various locker rooms across the continent where they can continue to do what they do best.
Ring of Honor’s final show before restructuring will be Final Battle, which is currently scheduled for December 11th. If Ring of Honor comes back after missing all of Q1 of next year, hopefully, it will be able to reclaim the momentum and prestige it has built over the last several years.
