New Orleans Saints

This isn’t Drew Brees’ team anymore, something that has been made clear in the first half of the Saints’ 2021 season.

While Brees is the most glaring difference in the lineup, playing without Michael Thomas has made this team a prime candidate for a trade deadline wide receiver add. While Brandin Cooks and Marvin Jones Jr. have been other potential trade candidates, Robinson II stands out as one of the most tantalizing options the Saints could land.

It doesn’t help that the Saints’ already-depleted corps is also suffering from injuries. Lil’Jordan Humphrey is out, while Deonte Harris remains Questionable as Week 8 approaches. Marquez Callaway and Tre’Quan Smith are tasked with carrying the passing game.

In a bye week analysis, Sports Illustrated reported that the Saints ranked last in the league in passing attempts. The only team that had less passing yards than New Orleans was, ironically, Chicago.

As the only NFC team on this list, an inter-conference trade is less likely, but perhaps the Saints could opt for Allen Robinson II. A Week 7 rivalry game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely show New Orleans their dire need for their own Mike Evans — especially since their own Michael is missing. Sitting second in their division, the Saints still have a strong chance at a Wild Card slot. Robinson II could be just what they need to take them there.
