Fantasy Football: 5 bold predictions for Week 8
By Nick Villano
Bold Prediction #2: Kenneth Gainwell takes RB job for good
Kenneth Gainwell is one of the top waiver targets this week with Miles Sanders hurting for the Philadelphia Eagles. Sanders is week to week after he was injured in the Eagles last game, so they have to use a different strategy when it comes to the running game. Gainwell has been successful on some weeks this year as a second option to Sanders, but he’s never been consistent enough to start. That changes this week, and he should establish himself as the long-term starter.
There are questions about how much Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni could use Boston Scott, but Gainwell is the much better option for fantasy. Also, he’s the better option overall, so he will eventually take the job for good this game.
The Eagles are taking on a Detroit Lions team that is feisty, but they are not good overall. They allow the fourth-most fantasy points to running backs. With the Eagles at 2-5 on the season, they are in desperation mode. Gainwell’s ability to help them on the ground and through the air will have them looking towards him to get yards on most plays. He will always be an option. He had eight targets last week and a receiving touchdown. Gainwell is well worth your time.
