Baltimore Ravens: Jets’ S Marcus Maye

Marcus Maye has long been the subject of trade rumors ever since failing to get a long-term deal done with the Jets. Even after denying the trade rumors, there’s no doubt that he could very well be moved, especially with the Jets in the midst of another brutal season.

Could the Baltimore Ravens be the team to finally scoop him up from New York? It certainly wouldn’t be a bad move. Their pass defense is 29th in the league, allowing 296.1 yards per game. They haven’t been able to find a reliable free safety since the failed Earl Thomas experiment. While their starting free safety DeShon Elliott has been serviceable enough in 2021, he’s not the type of instinctual free safety that Maye is.

Maye would provide an instant upgrade at safety, which the Ravens are going to need if they’re hoping to compete in the high-powered AFC. Maye has 34 total tackles on the year and a PFF grade of 61.5 so far in 2021. The Ravens would be wise to secure Maye long-term after the trade as well, as that is the reason the trade rumors began anyways.
