On October 30, 2021, we published an article about a fire at the family home of a Clemson University football player. The original title of the article was “Clemson football player obsessed with fire accidentally burns family home down.” The article stated that the player was obsessed with and fascinated by fire, and it implied that the player had been playing with fire. These statements and implications were not accurate.

We apologize for the error.

The article also included a subheading that read, “Clemson football player sets house on fire,” and it stated, “The Clemson football player set his family home on fire last weekend after falling asleep after setting up a fire pit.” To clarify, the player built a fire in the fire pit in his backyard. He subsequently fell asleep, and the fire then spread from the fire pit to the house. The player did not intend for the fire to spread to the house.

We apologize for the ambiguity in the original article.
