Freddie Freeman wants Braves to finish off World Series in Atlanta

The Atlanta Braves took a commanding 3-1 lead in the World Series with a Saturday night win but Freddie Freeman doesn’t want to go to Houston again.

With a 3-2 comeback win on Saturday night, the Atlanta Braves are now just one victory away from winning the World Series, which would be the fourth in franchise history and the first since 1995.

The club’s victory at home in Truist Park on the night before Halloween was powered by late back-to-back home runs by Dansby Swanson and Jorge Soler before the bullpen came in and closed the door again on the Houston Astros to take a commanding 3-1 series lead. That means that Atlanta has two losses they can give up and still win it all.

Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has no plans on doing that.

When talking about Sunday night’s Game 5 at Truist Park, Freeman was all smiles as he said that he wanted the club to give the fans a treat and finish it out in Atlanta:

If Atlanta simply keeps taking care of business the way they have throughout the playoffs, then Freddie Freeman and the Braves will get their wish of getting the title in front of their home fans.

Including the win over Houston on Saturday night, the Braves are a perfect 7-0 in the postseason while playing at Truist Park. And when you look at the atmosphere in Atlanta for all these games, it’s not hard to imagine that the fans have fueled this team at several points.

But now comes the most important game — the one that can clinch the World Series victory. Both teams appear as if they’re running on fumes, their pitching staffs in particular. However, with one gutty performance by the Braves, they’ll be champions for the first time in 26 years.
