Watch: Refs must have money on Michigan State to make this brutal call vs. Michigan
By John Buhler
The referees blew a horrendous call in the massive rivalry game between the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans.
The only logical explanation for this blown call is that the Big Ten officials have money on the Michigan State Spartans to beat the Michigan Wolverines.
This fall has been a complete referendum on officiating across all sports. Late in the first half, Michigan pass rusher David Ojabo sacked Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne deep in the Spartans’ zone. The Wolverines recovered the football in the Spartans’ end zone on what should have been a defensive touchdown. Instead, the call was reversed and Michigan State was saved.
The Wolverines did enter halftime on the road with a nine-point lead over their bitter in-state rival.
Big Ten officials blew a terrible call in the Michigan vs. Michigan State game
The officiating crew reviewed the controversial play and believed Thorne was down before fumbling the football. While the Spartans did not get any points out of that possession, the game could have been even more in the Wolverines’ favor.
The winner of this game will be the last undefeated team in the Big Ten with a potential division title on the line coming in early December.
Let’s hope this play is not what inevitably decides this game between the two bitter division rivals.
