The Pac-12 is honoring Utah players Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe after their tragic deaths with red hash marks at the 22-yard line in all games this weekend.

If you watch any Pac-12 football action this weekend, you might notice the hash marks at the 22-yard line are painted red. There’s a deep meaning behind that unusual color scheme.

The Pac-12 schools are united in honoring Ty Jordan and Aaron Lowe, the Utah players who tragically died this year.

Jordan was the Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2020. His bright young life was cut short because of an accidental shooting in December after his freshman season.

Lowe was one of Jordan’s best friends. He changed his number from No. 2 to No. 22 to honor his fallen teammate. Then he was gunned down outside a house party in September.

Both deaths were shocking and tragic. The emotional toll on Utah as a team is unimaginable.

The Utes are retiring the No. 22 jersey, the first-ever jersey retirement for the program, as a tribute to both players while the Pac-12 has now shown their support for the grieving Utah family with this hash mark tribute.
