Scott Frost did not inspire much confidence in his postgame comments after Nebraska’s 28-23 loss to Purdue.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ season continued to head in the wrong direction. Their last win of the year came on Oct. 2 after they blew out the Northwestern Wildcats 56-7. They have now lost three straight games following their 28-23 loss to the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday.
Head coach Scott Frost was hired to bring the success that he had with Central Florida to Lincoln. Instead, he is now 3-6 on the season, and he did not sound very confident in the team turning things around.
After the game, Frost left Nebraska’s locker room to allow the captains to speak with the team. That is when Frost said “magic speeches aren’t going to change this.”
Scott Frost sounded more like a coach today who doesn’t know how to fix Nebraska’s trouble than at any point in his four years.

He left the locker room after gathering the team to allow the captains to talk after this loss.
“Magic speeches aren’t going to change this,” he said.

Those comments do not exactly exude confidence from Frost there.
Frost was brought in to help build Nebraska into a winning football program in the Big Ten. This was the same guy who coached the UCF Knights to a 13-0 record and a Peach Bowl win in the 2017 season. That is when he agreed to be the head coach for Nebraska, the very program in which he played quarterback for from 1996-97.
Since returning to Lincoln, the Cornhuskers have gone 15-26 in four years. Frost has never had a winning football record and failed to bring Nebraska into bowl game eligibility.
Moving on from Frost would be difficult for Nebraska. Not because of the success of the team, but due to the $20 million buyout charge if he were to be fired after this season. Frost’s contract runs through the 2026 season.
