Zack Greinke may need to teach Houston Astros teammate Carlos Correa a thing or two about getting a base hit in the World Series.
For years, Zack Greinke had been one of the better hitting pitchers in all of baseball, but it has been so long since he has hit in a game that perhaps his Houston Astros teammates Carlos Correa forgot.
With Greinke getting the start in Game 4 of the 2021 World Series at the Atlanta Braves, he may be getting his last opportunity to swing a bat in the big leagues. Greinke is getting up there in age and the universal DH across baseball feels inevitable.
When Correa found out Greinke was getting the start, he offered this epic quote about how good of a hitter Greinke thinks he is. While he is good, he is not Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron, no matter how much Greinke thinks he is.
Carlos Correa on #Astros teammate Zack Greinke's hitting ability. Greinke starts tonight in Game 4 which may be the last time he ever hits in a game: "He's a good hitter, but he thinks he's Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron if you talk to him. He thinks he has a 1,000 career OPS.''

Well, in his first plate appearance in the World Series, Greinke singled up the middle, meaning he got a hit in this postseason game before Correa did.
Zack Greinke, who Carlos Correa said before the game thinks he's Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron despite his .600ish OPS, currently has more hits in this game than Carlos Correa. I am assuming Greinke will point this out to him later.

Here is greatness in effect with Greinke getting a base knock in the World Series.

Zack Greinke makes Carlos Correa eat his words with one swing of the bat
It has been a great career for Greinke, from his beginnings as a highly touted prospect in the Kansas City Royals organization to him being a former prominent piece in the Astros rotation.
Though he is very much past his prime as a pitcher, it is still cool to see him rake when he steps into the right-handed batter’s box. Fate would have it he is not the only pitcher who can hold his own at the plate in this series, as Max Fried can handle the lumber pretty well from the left side of the plate for the Braves.
If this is Greinke’s last career base hit, it sure was a good one and came on the biggest of stages.
