Trick: Scott Frost is absolutely not the answered prayer for Nebraska football

The prodigal son may have returned to Lincoln, but the results have not been what anybody hoped for. Scott Frost did not lose any games in his final season at UCF. Now he is facing the reality of going bowl-less in four years leading his alma mater’s program. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are 3-6 on the year and new athletic director Trev Alberts may have no choice but to make a big change.

Treat: Mel Tucker has become a head-coaching candidate hotter than Hansel

Along with Kenneth Walker having the run of his life in East Lansing, his head coach Mel Tucker is going from a promising on-the-rise head coach in the Big Ten to the biggest head-coaching candidate on the market. He has only been at Michigan State for two years, but Tucker could be the next head coach at LSU. Then again, he may leverage that into a massive bump in pay grade.

Trick: Florida has four conference losses before Halloween

While Florida was expected to take a step back this season, who saw the Gators losing four conference games before Halloween? Yes, the Gators have had a miserable time vs. Power Five competition of late under Dan Mullen. They have lost to Alabama, Kentucky, LSU and now Georgia. This was a top-15 team at the start of the year who has no business being ranked whatsoever.

Treat: Cincinnati might be the first Group of Five team to make the playoff

There was so much debate for their inclusion in the big dance last year, but the argument is becoming even more compelling now. The Cincinnati Bearcats are the No. 2 team in the land with a big non-conference win over Notre Dame. They more than held their own vs. Georgia last year in the Peach Bowl. Though Power Five is coming, Cincinnati deserves to be the first Group of Five to make it in.

Trick: History repeated itself with Ed Orgeron doing his best Gene Chizik

It did not even take a decade for history to repeat itself in the SEC West. Ed Orgeron went from being on top of the college world in 2019 to being a lame-duck head coach in 2021. The LSU Tigers have been middling at best since winning the College Football Playoff. As it turns out, Joe Burrow was the Cam Newton to his Gene Chizik. LSU is a total mess, as Coach O leaves Baton Rouge.

Treat: Kenny Pickett might be the first quarterback selected in the NFL Draft

Even though Pitt is gonna Pitt when you least expect Pitt to Pitt, Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett can … pick it. He looks like Matt Ryan but plays like Russell Wilson. He will be a first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. While he might be the first quarterback taken, let’s hope the Pittsburgh Steelers rectify a major 1983 draft gaffe by passing on a local product. Don’t Dan Marino it.

While Halloween is always a good time, be safe out there while having a little bit of fun.
