Cooper Rush could make his first NFL start for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 but who is the backup quarterback to Dak Prescott?

Dak Prescott helped lead a fantastic win for the Dallas Cowboys prior to their bye week but, on the final play against the Patriots to pick up the win, he suffered a calf injury.

That ailment has left his status, even after the bye, for Week 8 against the Vikings on Sunday Night Football in question. Subsequently, backup quarterback Cooper Rush is in line to possibly start.

But who is Cooper Rush? We have some information about the backup to Dak you might not know.

Who is Cooper Rush, the Cowboys backup QB?

Cooper Rush is a 27-year-old quarterback who played his college football for the Central Michigan Chippewas. He went undrafted in 2017 but spent several years as a backup for the Cowboys in various capacities.

Rush has only thrown passes in two games for his career, all of which came as a rookie in 2017. For his career, he’s 1-of-3 for two yards with a pair of rushes for 13 yards.

From what we’ve seen from Rush in the preseason, he’s a safe player with no truly special traits but, in this offense, he has the playmakers around him to potentially be passable for at least one game.
