Gary Patterson done at TCU immediately after 20 years with Horned Frogs
After holding the job at TCU for over two decades, head coach Gary Patterson is done with the Horned Frogs an agreement to part ways immediately.
Gary Patterson and the TCU football team have not been enjoying the best of years and, frankly, the head coach has not had the Horned Frogs at the level many became accustomed to in recent years.
The rumblings about him being on the hot seat had already started and, on Sunday, they came to a head.
As reported by multiple outlets, TCU football and Gary Patterson mutually agreed to part ways, which goes into effect right away with assistant Jerry Kill serving as the interim head coach.
Gary Patterson, TCU football mutually party ways, effective immediately
Patterson took over as the head coach of the Horned Frogs back in 2000. His time with the program saw him go 172-70 over his career.
Perhaps most incredibly, he coached TCU football while they were in four different conferences (WAC, Conference-USA, Mountain West, Big 12), which goes to show how much he helped grow the program and build on success.
This is certainly a sad day in Fort Worth as the Horned Frogs turn the page on Patterson. We’ll have to see what’s next for the program and Patterson alike as this will certainly be a large transition for both parties.
