Who has the record for the longest at bat in MLB history? The honor belongs to first baseman Brandon Belt of the San Francisco Giants.

During Game 5 of the World Series, Adam Duvall had his longest at bat of the year when he faced Astros pitcher Luis Garcia in the third inning.

That one lasted 12 pitches. It also prompted the question: What’s the longest ever?

What is the longest at bat in MLB history?

Brandon Belt grabbed hold of the record in 2018 with a 21-pitch at bat.

The San Francisco Giants first baseman faced Jaime Barria of the Angels and occupied 13 minutes of his time, per MLB.com.

He even apologized after the game because he hates being on the other side of that kind of a battle.

“When I’m in the field I hate it when a batter keeps fouling pitches off,” Belt said. “I’m like ‘Dude, just put it in play. It’s not that hard. Let’s go.’ So I basically had to apologize to everybody after that.”

It was all for naught too. He flied the ball out after all those pitches and had to take a seat.

When you compare Duvall’s at bat to Belt’s, it doesn’t look too long anymore.
