Nuno Espirito Santo was fired on Monday after just 17 games in charge of Tottenham. The fans couldn’t be happier.
Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was fired on Monday after just 17 games in charge of the North London club, the team said in a statement.
The final straw for Spurs ownership was a 3-0 defeat this past Saturday to Manchester United. It marked the team’s fifth loss in just 10 Premier League matches.
The team, currently eighth in the Premier League, said in a statement that Nuno and his coaching staff had been “relieved of their duties,” although no successor was announced.
“A further coaching update will follow in due course,” the statement read.
The Associated Press reported that former Juventus and Inter Milan manager Antonio Conte is the frontrunner for the job. If appointed, it would mark a return to London for the former Italy coach following a spell at Chelsea, a club he left in 2018.

Under Nuno, 47, Spurs had scored just nine goals in 10 league matches, a poor start for a club that had ambitions to finish in the top four.
Nuno’s appointment had been deemed farcical by some following the team’s defeat to West Ham, something that eventually became increasingly true following the loss to Man U.
As a result, fans were thrilled to finally see Nuno gone after jeering and heckling the team over the course of the last few matches.

I do feel sorry for Nuno as he's clearly a good bloke and I enjoyed trying to get him to talk about, well anything. However, he was clearly the wrong man at the wrong time. I think I said back when talks were taking place with him that he just didn't fit what Spurs needed.

Nuno sacked by Spurs after just 10 games, getting a £10m pound pay off. If you divide £10m by 10 games, you’ve made… profit. pic.twitter.com/CuDJWGjIPX
