AEW Dynamite results from the Nov. 3 episode with highlights and handing out Superlative Awards to CM Punk, Kenny Omega and more.

Whenver AEW is nearing a pay-per-view event, as they are currently with Full Gear in just 10 days, their weekly shows tend to deliver the goods. That was certainly the case for AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, Nov. 3, the next-to-last episode of the show until the PPV.

Jon Moxley taking a leave of absence from the wrestling promotion while he enters an inpatient rehab facility altered the main event for the night with Orange Cassidy instead facing Miro in the World Title Eliminator Tournament semifinal match. Beyond that, we also got to see Kenny Omega, CM Punk, Cody and numerous other stars on the night.

So what happened on the Nov. 3 episode of AEW Dynamite? Let’s break down the results before we hand out some superlative awards for the episode.

AEW Dynamite results, highlights for Nov. 3

Kenny Omega def. Alan Angels

After the match, Omega tried to injure Angels but Hangman Page stopped it. When Omega fled, Page, calmly gave him back the belt and sent a warning for Full Gear.

Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy, Christian Cage attack SuperKliq

FTR def. Samuray Del Sol and Aero Star

Chris Jericho and Inner Circle choose Junior Dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski and Dan Lambert for 10-man tag match at Full Gear

Lambert should’ve been more specific when he said “any” member of American Top Team.

Jamie Hayter def. Anna Jay – TBS Championship Tournament First Round

Hayter will face Thunder Rosa in the next round of the tournament.

MJF verbally runs down Darby Allen, the two get into a wild brawl

Andrade El Idolo def. Cody Rhodes with interference from FTR

Andrade and FTR started to attack Rhodes after the match but the Lucha Bros, who face FTR at Full Gear, ran the lot off.

Miro def. Orange Cassidy – World Title Eliminator Tournament semifinal

AEW Dynamite Superlative Awards

Best Match: Kenny Omega vs. Alan Angels

For the most part, this match could’ve been a complete throwaway affair to set up a fantastic moment between Omega and Hangman Page. It certainly did that, but the match itself was a phenomenal way to start the show.

Omega, in my opinion, is at his best when he can look as if he’s at his wit’s end in the ring. Having someone who is much lower in the AEW hierarchy than he in Angels continue to push him in the ring allows the champ to put forth great storytelling over the course of a single match. And for Angels’ part, he’s great in the ring and has tremendous chemistry with Omega.

Put simply, this set a phenomenal tone to start the show.

Worst Match: Andrade El Idolo vs. Cody

On the contrary, the next-to-last match of the night was, admittedly, a bit disappointing.

There wasn’t necessarily a bad match on the AEW Dynamite card for Wednesday’s show but this one was the biggest letdown of the bunch. Not only did Andrade El Idolo and Cody not get the time that I would’ve liked to see them to but this was an example of a vessel solely used to prop up another feud, this time between the Lucha Bros and FTR.

Maybe the partnership between Andrade and FTR goes further beyond this but, all told, the wrestling fan in me just wanted to see two extremely talented wrestlers have the chance to get after it for a long time.

Best Promo: CM Punk on Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston

Shock of the century, but CM Punk got a microphone in his hands and delivered a fantastic promo.

It was truly a beautiful moment when Punk talked about Moxley and commended him for taking care of himself and getting help. It was made even more beautiful by the Missouri crowd as they chanted for Moxley and Punk encouraged more of it.

The Chicago legend didn’t stop there, though. He then called out Eddie Kingston in the manner that only Punk can, always teetering back-and-forth on the line between face and heel with the crowd just eating it up.

MJF Award for Being So Great at Being Hatable: MJF

Seriously, MJF is making being hated a legitimate art form.

There isn’t much to say other than the fact that MJF might be the best pure heel that we’ve seen in pro wrestling in quite some time.

Storyline to Watch: Miro and Bryan Danielson leading up to Full Gear

By virtue of Moxley being out, Miro was inserted into the tournament and got the win. Now, it’ll be him facing Bryan Danielson at Full Gear. We know those two guys can work, but the interesting part is how they develop it.

AEW laid some groundwork after Miro’s match with him slapping away the handshake from Danielson. But with only 10 days until the two face with a shot at the title on the line, it’s going to be fascinating to see the quick work that the creative team has to do to make the stakes feel higher than this just being a tournament final.

Episode MVP: Paige VanZant

Even though she wasn’t in the ring and won’t be part of the 10-man tag match at Full Gear, it’s hard to deny how good Paige VanZant has been since she arrived in AEW.

We’ve not yet seen her in the ring and she’s clearly playing with that to the crowd. But that’s what makes her the MVP of the episode. Though some may have doubted it, she’s clearly a natural on the microphone and with getting reactions from the crowd.

It’ll be intriguing to see where they take her moving forward with the promotion and if/when she’ll get in the squared circle. What we’ve seen, however, keeps me waiting eagerly to see what else she has in store for AEW.
