Matt LaFleur deflects question on Aaron Rodgers’ vaccination status
With the news that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been placed on the COVID list, head coach Matt LaFleur isn’t going to speak for him about things.
Just when you thought the Green Bay Packers would be able to put their COVID issues behind them from Week 8, the monster Aaron Rodgers news dropped on Wednesday morning. The future Hall-of-Fame signal-caller will miss Sunday’s game against the Chiefs after testing positive.
Since then, it has also been reported that Rodgers has not been vaccinated. That means the earliest he can return to the team will be Saturday, Nov. 13. When asked about the situation, head coach Matt LaFleur didn’t mince words and made it clear he wasn’t going to open up about things.
Aaron Rodgers out for Chiefs game is a massive blow for the Packers
Rodgers had previously said he was ‘immunized,’ which made it seem like he had been vaccinated. Now, we all know that’s not the case. Everyone was getting ready for Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes to put on a show on Sunday. That’s not going to happen.
Last week, Green Bay faced plenty of adversity with both Davante Adams and Allen Lazard missing the game after being placed on the COVID list. They were also without defensive coordinator Joe Barry.
Despite that, Rodgers powered the team to a thrilling victory over the Arizona Cardinals in the desert. With Rodgers missing Week 9, former first-round pick Jordan Love will be given the keys to the offense to showcase what he can get done.
While some folks may be excited to see what Love can do with the ball in his hands, the Rodgers news sure is disappointing. We’ll know have to wait until Week 10 to see him throw the ball all over the field again.
