FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd brought up a great point about this year’s Alabama team, as they took on the LSU Tigers on Saturday.

The Alabama Crimson Tide’s quest to defend their National Championship continued on Saturday, as they hosted the rival LSU Tigers. Even though they have one loss on the year, they received the No. 2 spot on the first College Football Playoff rankings earlier this week.

FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd shared his thoughts on Alabama’s performance this season, calling them the second-best team he’s seen this year. The media personality also shared his belief that this was probably the weakest Crimson Tide “team in maybe a decade.”

Colin Cowherd shares thoughts on the 2021 Alabama Crimson Tide

Head coach Nick Saban did lose 10 members of last year’s team to the 2021 NFL Draft, such as quarterback Mac Jones, Heisman-winning wide receiver DeVonta Smith, running back Najee Harris, cornerback Pat Surtain II and defensive lineman Christian Barmore. It was unlikely that Alabama would have a similar season like they did in 2020.

Alabama’s lone loss on the year came in the closing seconds of regulation against the Texas A&M Aggies. Yet, it did not knock them out of Playoff contention. They got the second-overall ranking by the CFP committee for a reason, as they have dominated their opponents this year. Well, those not named Texas A&M or Florida, the latter of whom Alabama defeated 31-29.

The Crimson Tide got off to a very slow start against the Tigers on Saturday, causing some to panic. After trailing 7-0 following LSU’s opening drive, Alabama bounced back to take a 14-7 following a touchdown run by Brian Robinson Jr. and a Bryce Young touchdown pass to John Metchie III.

Even if this is not the strongest Alabama team as Cowherd mentions, you still can not count them out hoisting the CFP National Championship at the end of the season.
