The Alabama Crimson Tide did get the win against the LSU Tigers on Saturday, but it did not come easy.

Alabama’s chances of making the College Football Playoff became much more difficult after they lost to Texas A&M, meaning they had to win-out the remainder of the season. So far, they have done just that since the loss, and they continued their winning streak on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide earned the win against the SEC-rival LSU Tigers, but it came by the score of 20-14. In fact, LSU were a successful Hail Mary pass away from pulling off the upset against Alabama.

While a win is a win, college football media could not loss over how close the Crimson Tide were to actually losing this one.

Alabama hangs on to defeat LSU

It was far from an easy day in the office for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. LSU were playing like a team with nothing to lose because, well, they did not. That was evident after the Tigers pulled off a fake punt on their opening drive and paved the way for them to score a touchdown four plays later to take an early 7-0 lead.

The Crimson Tide had an uncharacteristic day. If you needed further proof of that, Alabama was only able to record six rushing yards on 26 carries! As mentioned in the tweets above, the Crimson Tide had more penalties (nine) than rushing yards.

According to CBS Sports, the Crimson Tide’s streak of scoring 30 points ended at 34 games as a result of this game. Furthermore, the network says that this is the fewest points Alabama put up in an SEC game since the team lost 26-14 to Auburn in 2017.

Alabama will look to put up a better overall performance next week when they play New Mexico State. As for LSU, they get back to .500 with a victory over Arkansas.
