What will it take for Florida football head coach Dan Mullen to keep his job? FOX’s Bruce Feldman laid out exactly what he can’t afford to do.

It certainly feels like Dan Mullen is on the hot seat with Florida at 4-4.

The Gators are 2-7 against their last nine FBS opponents and Mullen has been the subject of at least one embarrassing press conference moment.

The big question is how bad does it have to get for Florida to move on?

Dan Mullen hot seat: How can the Florida coach save his job?

Bruce Feldman did a Q&A on Twitter and explained the landscape for Mullen and his hot seat.

“It’s gotten a lot hotter in the last few weeks, Feldman said. “I still don’t think the AD Scott Strickland is itching to pull the trigger on him.”

Feldman outlined the 2-7 record and recruiting woes facing Mullen. It would be one thing if he lost games to Alabama and Georgia alone. The problem has been losing to teams like LSU while they are down.

Still, the path to remaining in Gainesville is pretty clear.

“I still think Mullen, if he can win their last four games — and it’s not like they’re going to play any Top 25 teams the rest of the way — if he can do that he probably keeps his job,” Feldman said. “But if they stumble along somewhere the way against a Florida State, against a South Carolina or against a Missouri, then I think it’s going to be really dicey for him because I think there’s a lot of folks who do not think the program is headed in the right direction.”

The Gators should be favored in their next three FBS matchups, but the best record they can hope for is 8-4. Is that enough for Florida fans?
