Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant meet on Saturday, Nov. 6, to unify boxing’s super middleweight division. Get live updates from FanSided!

Boxing’s two top super middleweights in the world go at it on Saturday, Nov. 6. Alvarez is the favorite, but Plant is out to become a global star.

Alvarez (56-1-2, 38 KOs), 31, from Guadalajara, Mexico, is boxing’s biggest name. He’s in his prime and has wins over Gennadiy Golovkin, Callum Smith, Billy Joe Saunders, and many other prominent fighters, but he’s dealing with an interesting boxer in Plant.

Plant (21-0, 12 KOs), 29, from Ashland City, TN, is the IBF division champion and hopes to remain undefeated while collecting Alvarez’s WBA, WBC, and WBO belts. He has flashed moments of brilliance in the ring but against sub-par talent. He looked very good against Jose Uzcategui in 2019 to win the title, but Uzcategui’s reputation has faded, which hasn’t helped the notoriety of Plant’s win.

The are several other noteworthy bouts on the card. Former WBC super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell fights Marcos Hernandez. Dirrell hopes to earn another title shot but recently told FanSided, that he will consider retirement if a title fight doesn’t materialize next. First, he needs to beat Hernandez, who is better than his record indicates.

Can Plant rise to the occasion and prove that he’s the future of the super middleweight division, or will Alvarez continue his tear through boxing’s top-tier talent? Follow along here with FanSided to get live results and highlights.
