Dan Mullen might get left on the tarmac with Florida getting blown out by South Carolina
Dan Mullen was already on the hot seat at Florida and the Gators getting rocked by a bad South Carolina team might get the head coach left on the tarmac.
Coming out of a pregame week in which Florida Gators head coach Dan Mullen did not garner any brownie points with the media, he needed to lead his team to a big victory over South Carolina. Even playing in Columbia, that didn’t seem like too tall of a task as the Gamecocks have struggled mightily this season.
Florida, however, struggled even more on Saturday night in the first half.
Even facing South Carolina’s third-string quarterback, the Gators had no answers defensively as they looked listless on the road. Trailing 23-10 with halftime approaching, Mullen tried to scratch out a last-minute score to close the deficit. Instead, the gamble backfired with Emory Jones fumbling, leading to a Gamecocks scoop-and-score.

Down 30-10 at halftime and with Dan Mullen already the subject of hot seat rumors, the Florida head coach might get left on the tarmac after that first-half performance.
Dan Mullen might be done at Florida with this performance against South Carolina
Trailing by 20 points to a 4-4 South Carolina team that’s not nearly as good as their record would indicate, there was no shortage of people wondering if this was the end for Dan Mullen.

And it truly might be.
It certainly seems as if things might be unraveling for Mullen at Florida at this point. Not only would a loss to the Gamecocks drop the team to 4-5 on the season but, with him cutting off the media and being combative regarding recruiting, nothing looks good.
The good news for him, though, is that this result holding will allow him to not have to talk about the Gators recruiting anymore — unfortunately, that might be because he’s no longer the head coach.
