Missouri seeks the program’s first win against Georgia since 2013 when the two SEC East teams meet in Athens in Week 10.
With the Missouri Tigers joining the SEC in 2012, they have had to take on the Georgia football team annually in SEC divisional play.
While it has not gone over very well for the Tigers most years, they did win the division crown two of their first three years in the division.
Though 2014 is a long time removed from the 2021 college football season, Mizzou has beaten Georgia since coming to the SEC. If the Tigers do beat the Dawgs on Saturday, it will be the biggest upset in the college football season.
So when was the last time Missouri beat Georgia football?
Missouri football: When was the last time Tigers beat Georgia football?
The last time the Tigers beat the Dawgs, it was only their third all-time meeting head-to-head. These two schools had played once previously back in the 1960 Orange Bowl.
Georgia went to Columbia and handed Mizzou a 41-20 loss in their first game as SEC brethren in 2012.
However, the Tigers returned the favor by beating the Dawgs in Sanford Stadium on Oct. 12, 2013, 41-26.
Undefeated No. 25 Missouri came to Athens and ruined No. 7 Georgia’s day.
The Tigers defense led by pass-rusher extraordinaire Michael Sam picked off Georgia star quarterback Aaron Murray twice.
Those two untimely turnovers handed the Tigers their first win in this new series. Not since that mid-October game in Athens have the Tigers proven victorious over Georgia.
It would take nothing short of a miracle for Mizzou to beat No. 1 Georgia in Athens.
