Ohio State football fans have run out of patience with C.J. Stroud and are ready for freshman phenom Quinn Ewers to take over as the Buckeyes starting quarterback.
C.J. Stroud threw for more than 400 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a win for Ohio State at Nebraska, but it wasn’t enough to quiet Buckeyes fans who want to see Quinn Ewers.
Stroud put up monster numbers but did have some poor throws and decisions that kept Nebraska in the game in the closing minutes. The box score numbers don’t tell the full story for Stroud who rejoined the Heisman conversation in recent weeks, but his inconsistent play, despite being a first-year starter hasn’t quieted the calls for Ewers.
Ewers enrolled at Ohio State a year early after forgoing his senior year of high school to cash in on NIL deals but to also get a jump on competing for the starting job in 2022. Ryan Day has basically said in so many words Ewers won’t play this year and take a redshirt.
The lure of the unknown has been a big appeal for Ohio State football fans who wan to get a peek at the quarterback who has been graded as highly as Trevor Lawrence and Vince Young by recruiting services.
Ohio State football fans want Quinn Ewers to start over C.J. Stroud
Ohio State football fans were vocal on Twitter during the game vs. Nebraska to call for Ewers.
Quinn Ewers has to be given every opportunity to win the starting job come spring. #OhioState #Buckeyes

Ewers may have a great chance at unseating Stroud in a competition next spring but it would take a disaster for him to overtake him this year.
Start Quinn Ewers

Games like today are why Quinn Ewers will be starting for @OhioStateFB next season

Barring an injury to Stroud and Kyle McCord, don’t expect Ewers to see the field until next year’s spring game when Buckeyes fans will get a long look at the future.
We want Quinn Ewers

Can’t wait for Quinn Ewers to start next year for the Buckeyes

Patience is a virtue but it’s also a test in faith. Ohio State has a talented quarterback waiting to take over in the future but Stroud is capable of leading the Buckeyes to a Big Ten championship and a playoff berth. Even with that possible, don’t expect the calls for Ewers to quiet.
