Texas A&M football: No. 2 recruit Walter Nolen commits to Aggies over 4 SEC finalists and Michigan
Texas A&M football secured a commitment from one of the nation’s top recruits with Walter Nolen committing to Jimbo Fisher on Saturday.
Texas A&M got a big win ahead of their game vs. Auburn on Saturday with Walter Nolen committing to the Aggies.
Nolen is the nation’s No. 2 recruit according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The 6-foot-4, 325-pound defensive tackle picked the Aggies over Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Michigan.
College Station has been a frequent stop on Nolen’s tour of his finalists but the third time was the one that sealed the deal for the future cornerstone of the Aggies defense.
“I chose Texas A&M because Coach (Jimbo) Fisher has been building a lot of good teams around there,” Nolen told Sports Illustrated. “Seeing how that defense has progressed over the years, it’s like ‘wow, I can actually be a part of something like that and be a part of a team with the number one defense in the SEC. A team with one of the highest sack totals coming from the defensive line in the SEC.’
Walter Nolen is the latest 5-star recruit to commit to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M football
Nolen, from Powell, Tennessee, is the latest blue-chip recruit to pledge his commitment to Jimbo Fisher at Texas A&M.
One of the driving forces behind Fisher’s success at A&M thus far has been his ability to recruit elite talents like Nolen. Texas A&M has the nation’s No. 8, No. 6 and No. 4 recruiting classes the last three years.
The addition of Nolen pushes the Aggies into the top 10 for the 2022 class and could give them added momentum to add some more five-star recruits who are undecided with a little less than two months until the early signing day period in December.
