Utilize the wide receiver corps

Remember when the Chiefs signed Josh Gordon this season and finally had a good No. 2 receiver on their roster? Andy Reid does not. The Chiefs’ Week 8 matchup with the New York Giants was the first time this season that Gordon saw over 10 snaps in a game. And even then, he only got one target.

Meanwhile, Demarcus Robinson is seeing 70 percent of offensive snaps and Mecole Hardman is seeing about 60 percent of offensive snaps.

The reality is that the Chiefs offense can not run as it has for three years now when relying on Hardman and Robinson to hold down the No. 2 and 3 receiver spots. Sammy Watkins added value to this offense that may have gone overlooked during his tenure but is being made abundantly clear now.

The problem is that this should not be the issue. The Chiefs have unbelievable talent in their receiver room that they just have not used this season. Josh Gordon, Byron Pringle, and even Daurice Fountain all have potential that should be used by this team.

Defenses have a plan for the Travis Kelce-Tyreek Hill combo as they are being used now. Meanwhile, Demarcus Robinson and Mecole Hardman are such non-factors that defenses are able to plan around Hill and Kelce and then just deal with them as they get involved. If the Chiefs got their other extremely talented wide receivers involved, they could force some problems for defenses, opening up every part of the offense.
