Odell Beckham Jr wants to play for a contender and these three teams would be the best fit for him.

The trade deadline has come and gone but a potential difference-maker is on the market at wide receiver. Odell Beckham Jr and the Cleveland Browns have agreed to part ways and the veteran wideout is on waivers now, free to claim for any team willing to pay him $7.5 million for the rest of this season.

It seems unlikely that anyone will claim Beckham since he hasn’t produced like an All-Pro in years and ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that he has a stated desire to play only for contenders. There is a low-risk, high-reward approach to signing Beckham to a veteran’s minimum deal after he clears waivers, which would make the most sense for these three teams.

Where will OBJ play? 3 perfect landing spots for Odell Beckham Jr

Kansas City Chiefs

The loss of Sammy Watkins has been a bigger deal than we thought for the Kansas City Chiefs, whose offense has taken a huge step back this season. Opponents have focused heavily on trying to keep Tyreek Hill from beating them deep since few teams have a ton of respect for Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson.

Adding Beckham to the mix would give the Chiefs a huge upgrade to their No. 2 receiver spot and give Patrick Mahomes another tremendous option to throw to. The winning culture Andy Reid has built in Kansas City also fits what Beckham is said to be looking for, making this a risk worth taking for the Chiefs.

New England Patriots

The Patriots may not be a true AFC contender yet but New England has put itself on the map by winning two straight games to get back to .500. Rookie Mac Jones has done fine with the weapons he has but New England doesn’t have a truly dynamic threat like Beckham to fully unlock their offense.

Beckham would certainly be intrigued since New England’s Week 10 matchup comes against Cleveland, offering him an immediate opportunity at revenge. Bill Belichick has also done well with talented wideouts looking for a change of scenery in the past, helping Randy Moss stage a successful second act as a Patriot, something that OBJ would definitely be looking at as a factor in his decision.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints are a surprise contender in the NFC at 5-2 but have had some major injury issues on offense. Jameis Winston is out for the season with a knee injury while Michael Thomas won’t play at all after undergoing a setback with his surgically repaired ankle, leaving New Orleans in need of some more weapons to take the burden off of Alvin Kamara and backup quarterback Trevor Siemian.

Sean Payton is an offensive mastermind who would surely be able to find good usage for Beckham, who needs to put up good numbers at his next stop to earn a big contract in the offseason. The Saints’ strong locker room culture is also a match for what Beckham is looking for, making this an excellent potential fit as well.
