New footage of Mac Jones’ tackle on Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Brian Burns sure makes it look like quite the dirty play.

New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is getting blasted all over social media and it’s easy to understand why. The signal-caller fumbled the rock against the Panthers on Sunday and in the same sequence, he was taken to the ground by defensive end Brian Burns.

Well, as Burns was trying to get up to make another play after rocking Jones, the quarterback clearly grabs his ankle and twists. Burns immediately fell to the turn in a ton of pain. New video of that play really isn’t a good look for Jones.

Mac Jones dirty play is getting him roasted by countless people

There’s simply no defending Jones’ play here. In that video above, he clearly grabs Burns’ ankle and then makes his move. What in the world was he thinking? So many people out there are destroying him on social media for the play. This includes ESPN’s Marcus Spears.

It’s hard to argue with Spears here. Jones knew exactly what he was doing. Panthers fans are calling for him to be suspended, but it has already been reported that Jones won’t miss any action. With that said, the NFL is reviewing the play and a fine could be coming for the Patriots rookie.

If you ask everyone in Carolina, though, there’s no question Jones should be suspended. He also owes Burns a big-time apology for the play. While this may be Jones’ first year in the pros, he has to be better than this and make smarter decisions.

Imagine if he would have seriously injured Burns? The defensive end will no question be motivated to light Jones up the next time Carolina and New England face off.
