Raiders cut former first-round pick Damon Arnette
The Las Vegas Raiders have reportedly released former first-round pick Damon Arnette, who hasn’t appeared in a game since Week 4.
Another first-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders is no longer with the team. Last week, Las Vegas cut ties with wide receiver Henry Ruggs III after his horrific DUI incident which took the life of a 23-year-old woman. Now, Damon Arnette is also no longer a Raider.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Raiders released the second-year cornerback on Monday. Arnette appeared in nine games last year, making seven starts. This season, however, he had only appeared in four contests.
Damon Arnette gun video went viral on social media last week
The news of Arnette’s release comes less than a week after he posted some truly concerning videos on his TikTok. In the videos, Arnette showcased several guns and repeatedly was telling someone that he was going to kill them. This must have made its way to the Raiders front office.
In that clip, Arnette really doesn’t hold back as he drops expletive after expletive. He simply had to know better than to post this and behave in this kind of a manner. It’s no wonder he’s currently out of a job. Is another team going to want to give him another chance after seeing this?
For Las Vegas, this only adds to the growing list of problems for the team. On Sunday, the Raiders traveled to MetLife Stadium in hopes of taking down the New York Giants, but they couldn’t get anything going in the red zone and suffered a rough 23-16 defeat.
Now, Las Vegas will look to try and take down the Chiefs on Sunday. Arnette will have to watch that contest from home.
