Chiefs reportedly talking with Odell Beckham’s team

Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is weighing his free agent options, and the Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly been in contact.
Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was placed on waivers on Monday, and went unclaimed at 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday. That means the former first-round selection of the New York Giants is free to sign with any team he so chooses.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz, who reported earlier on Tuesday that Beckham has prioritized the Green Bay Packers as his top destination, has a new update. Schultz says that Beckham’s team has talked to three organizations thus far, one of whom being the Kansas City Chiefs.
Chiefs reportedly in contact with Odell Beckham Jr.
The Chiefs are not necessarily a surprising team to be looking at signing Beckham. They were expected to contend for the Super Bowl once again this year, but a bad defense paired with an underwhelming offense has made that task much more difficult.
Kansas City does have wideout Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce as quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ main beneficiaries in the passing attack. But their depth at wide receiver is far from the greatest, with their main addition in-season being Josh Gordon. Bringing in Beckham could help provide the spark in the offense that they so desperately need to break through a wide open AFC.
This season, Beckham recorded 17 receptions for 232 yards and zero touchdowns in six games with the Browns.
A decision from Beckham will likely come soon. But now you know that the Chiefs were among the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints as the teams to be in contact with the wide receiver.
